A bona fide lifestyle maven with a creative flair for the fabulous, Renaissance woman Nicole Young is a lauded voice in the lifestyle space. In addition to owning her own whiskey brand, Frisky Whiskey, she’s a broadcaster for major networks including ABC and E! Entertainment. Nicole is an expert in the non-alc realm as well, regularly showcasing her favorites on-air.

This month, she curated some of her favorite Black-owned brands for us:

Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel

Founder Nzinga Knight created this complex and delicious sorrel as a celebration of her vibrant Caribbean culture and appreciation for festivity and sobriety. Her father passed down his recipe, which originated in West Africa, and she elevated it in the heart of Brooklyn.

Hella Cocktail Co.

Jomaree Pinkard is the Co-Founder and CEO of Hella Cocktail Co. He and his partners have grown a hobby business into a nationally-distributed brand that produces a line of premium non-alcoholic cocktail mixers, bitters, and ready-to-drink Bitters & Sodas.

Uncle Waithley’s Ginger Beer

Uncle Waithley’s Ginger Beer with a Scotch Bonnet Bite is a family recipe developed by mixologist Karl Franz Williams. Karl draws inspiration from  his grandfather, Uncle Waithley, who lived his entire life on the enchanting island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

If you’re based in New York City: be sure to check out these brands at Spirited Away, which is highlighting them all February long as part of Nicole’s Black Flavor Experience Showcase.
